When did you start an interest in Rodeo?
"When I was a kid, riding calves at branding
time back home in North Dakota"

Koty won the White Swan 2002 Treaty Day Bull Riding
Championship
Do you have a lucky piece that you carry with you when you compete?
" I carry a picture of my little boy,
in my hat"
What other sports other than rodeo do you enjoy?
"I love to play basketball and softball"
What is the funniest thing that you have seen or experienced at a rodeo?
"At Crow fair last year, seen it and
experienced it, the bull caught the clown flipped him up on top of the
bull, we both were riding the bull and he knocked me off and I got a
re-ride"
What advice would you give to Indian youth about rodeo or anything in general?
" Work out and stay with it, be focused, then
get a chance to be around rodeo, will help him out, take lessons.
In Florida, we have junior rodeos, held before the big show and we help
out the young kids down here, we do what ever we can to help them out,
the kids ask for advice, and we help them out in the chutes, stay
positive, and keep your mind set on your goals."
Who influence you to rodeo?
"My dad, Ron Brugh, he's a 7 time INFR
qualifier"
Is their any songs that inspire or pump you up before you ride or rope? "Any
kind of rock and roll song, they play before I ride, I get myself pumped
up...songs do help"
What is your favorite band or singer? "I
don't really have any favorites, I like to listen to everything, but
classical."
What is your favorite Western Movie? "Cowboy
Up"
What would you like to see more of at Rodeo's? "I'd
like to see more contestants, and fans at the rodeos"
"I'd like to thank the Seminole Tribe of
Florida for sponsoring me the past two years. They really take
care of us, when we are rodeoing."
Koty would like to thank everyone for supporting him, and all the
rodeo fans in the audience who cheers him on when he rides, he is
looking forward to this year.
Indian Rodeo News would like to thank Koty for taking the time to
talk to us, we'll be following him this year during the rodeo season and
will update his page with winnings and articles about his rodeo
career! Koty serves as a role model to future Bull Riding champions, so kids if you see him at a rodeo, feel free to walk up to
him and say "Hi".
