Carmela Scott/ PRCA Reporter for Indian
Rodeo News
live interview w/ Marty Hebb
NFR OR Bust!
Marty Hebb was traveling to the Cajun
Classic ProRodeo in Crowley, Louisiana today
as I spoke with him. He was sounding a
little tired but said he enjoyed the
chat. I encouraged Marty to "Hold his
Head up" and do the best he could as "Good
Draws" permit. Marty has allot of support
and fans out here in Indian Country hoping
he makes the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo.
After Marty leaves Crowley Louisiana he
is headed to Leesville Louisiana, for the
Leesville Lions Club rodeo "Knock on Wood"
recruiting some wins and vying to 15th hole
or higher to get to Vegas.
I asked Marty what rodeo was the most
memorable this year and he mentioned that
the Cheyenne Frontier Days in July was the
most memorable; and that is is one of the
Biggest rodeos in America. Marty drew up
extremely well at Cheyenne this summer
placing fourth in the average at this
prestigious rodeo, Hebb added that the
horses he drew gave him the wins... I think
Hebbs ultimate record as the INFR World
Champion speaks for itself . Marty gives
allot of credit to his riding abilities to
Tom Miller. Tom Miller was a runner up in
the PRCA twice. Hebb said Tom taught me the
basics of Rodeo and how to be a consistent
Saddle Bronc Rider. Another one I'd like
add to my achievers is Billy Etbauer. Billy
has a style that you just cant beat!
Marty's spirits are up, and his health is
great. Marty chuckles.. Not much bothers
me, at least I try not to let it, and I'm
all not really a superstitious person.. I
guess, I just don't lay my hat on the bed.
Hebb went on to say that and he missed the
INFR this year, and his friends and hoped he
could make more Indian rodeos next year to
make the final INFR Finals next year. Marty
is following his ultimate dream of
ProRodeoing and making it "Big" as he grasps
some "Swells" in his Bronc Saddle to
reach his rodeo endeavors. Marty is just a
little out of the money for making the NFR
in Las Vegas. After Hebb leaves Crowley,
And Leesville Louisiana Marty is driving
home to spend a day or two at home before
he catches his plane to fly out to Glen
Falls, NY for the Adirondack Stampede
Charity Rodeo. Marty we want to see some
mane hair raked off in your spurs and
hear the back of your cantle singing.... Go
get em Cowboy!
Marty Hebb- We at Indian Rodeo News wish
you the Best of Luck! And we'll see you in
Las Vegas!!
