Viva Las Vegas!
Las Vegas, Nevada !  Home of the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo-
As I limped onto the Airplane headed for Las Vegas...( I slipped on some ice as I unloaded my suitcase off of my cab)   I wondered whom or Which Cowboy I was gonna go and run down to come to our Inter-Tribal Agriculture Council Symposium-For an autograph session-  I had in mind all my contacts from Oregon...  So, I dialed Bobby Mote's cell number for a brief little interview and to ask Bobby to attend our Native Agriculture meeting...   Bobby hesitated for a brief moment...  And said"  How many people will be there?  I said about 600 of the Nations Tribal Leaders!  Bobby Mote answered very quickly...   I will be there!  How about 11:00...   I said fine!  I'll be looking for you and Katie!
Bobby called the next day and apologized for- his autograph sessions were over lapping...
Bobby Mote apologizes for his absenteeism of our meeting,....

Well Bobby Mote!  Indian Rodeo News followed you through out the year and we would like to expose you some more to Indian Country!  And we except your apology!  Congratulations Bobby!

Personal
6-0, 175...Wife, Kate; son, Charlie; daughter, Laura...Hobbies include horse training, roping and fishing…

Travels with Jason Havens, Ryan Grey.
Pets: Dog- Spry
Horses:  Many horses...  We change up horses quite often

When did you start rodeoing?
Since I was 16 years old....    I was struck by the bug!

Out of all the Rodeos you travel to, Which rodeo stands out in your mind?

I guess..  Id have to say Houston,  Its one of the biggest  and richest rodeos, and most prestigious rodeos there is.  All of the best Cowboys are at Houston...   You know we see the top 15 at the WNFR... But, there are allot of tough Bareback riders out there!  And allot younger...   And Id have to say winning the Bareback championship in 2002 was really Coool too!  I feel very blessed to be able to rodeo with the best of them... And to stay healthy and to still compete at this extreme level is something else!

It can be pretty darn tough at times staying away from my wife and kids can be extremely hard for me.
Do you carry a lucky piece with you when you compete?
No,  I'm not superstitious;  I am christian.   I put my life and safety in Gods hands!  He gave me this talent... I give all the Glory to him...

What other sports are you interested in?
"I love to head"....   Team roping is my next passion... When Im home... You can find me in the roping pen or at a Jackpot.  My wife barrel races so ... Its a family thing....

I read about the Benefit roping you put on for my College classmate Mike Beers,  That was a very nice thing you did...  Over 400 team ropers?

Yeah... Mike was your college classmate... Blue Mountain..  right....
Yes- Blue Mt. in Pendleton
We all seen the need to help a friend in need...   Mikes a nice guy!  He was injured early in the year.. And Brandon announced Mike was roping with him at Vegas!

Whats the funnies thing you've seen at a rodeo?
I've seen allot of funny things...   I cant think of one right now...

If you were to give a native youth advice about how to get started in rodeo..  What would it be?

Follow your dreams, Don't give up ... And learn the fundamentals of rodeo or your chosen event.
Its a tough sport, be ready to commit yourself 100% .. And find a good teacher... one that's good with youth,  And again don't give up and - Practice Practice Practice !

Favorite Movie?
We change up allot....  I like funny movies.. More up-beat and Happy movies.. I don't like the scary or depressing movies!   Something positive...   I guess-  Anchorman  and Lonesome Dove!
Favorite Music?
It varies, I like rock while I'm driving... A little of everything- Top 40

What would you like to see change in the whole aspect of rodeo?
More coverage in the sport of rodeo,  In general...    There are many good cowboys out there .. And you see them retire... They shouldn't be forgotten!  Boy it kills me to see a guy that dedicated his self to rodeo and not the recognition for all he has given... It kills me to see that...   Maybe a real life biography of cowboys.. everyday trying to reach for their dreams... Its something else ... A cowboy dedicated his entire life to rodeo...   I think media coverage on a more frequent basis is what I'd like to see...  And  Bigger purses...

Bobby...  Would you like to thank your sponsors for you successful year in 2007?
Oh yes...   First and foremost God...  For my given talent  and to my wife and kids...
Wrangler, Tony Llama Boots, and Cactus ropes....  Cactus ropes are always there... They go an extra mile to help out!

Thank you Carmela!  And Indian Rodeo News....   I would love to wear a patch!  Just go through the patch program!

Good luck Bobby and May God ride with you!
