Hello Indian Rodeo News
Readers:
The Pendleton Round-up
starts with a "Big Cannon ball Shooting". Out of
each bucking shoot all the Rodeo Court are introduced! Its a
fast and exciting opening ceremony. While watching the rodeo
the drums are beating in the distance... Its the Indian
Village right behind the Main Grand Stand. After the Opening
ceremonies are completed... A "Cow bell" is rang to
seperate the events! "That Bell"... It gave me
"Goose Bumps" ..Many years ago my family would bring race
horses to run at the Pendleton Round-up, as did many tribes from the
Pacific Northwest.. In the past you would show up at the gate
to approach onto the track and you would enter and race. Today
you have to pre-enter and belong to a Indian Relay Racing
organization from Montana... Times have changed! . "Back
to that Cow Bell"... I can remember getting those
"Butterflies" right before my father would lead me to the
track... Whoa.... Now... Were going to be flying down
that stretch as the "Shot gun is shot"... Ohh... the good
Ol days... I wouldn't change my past jockeying days for
anything... There are still the Indian Relay Races left as a
Native American event at the Pendleton round-up as well as the Happy
Canyon Pageant.... You just have to experience the
Pendleton Round-Up just once in your "Life".
The finale of the Rodeo
turned to be a "Pleasant Result". I am proud
to congratulate Cash Meyers Cash-"Cashed In the Paychecks
this year! Congratulations Cash! I spoke a little
on Clint Bruised Head's competition at Pendleton this year,
Clint wrestled a steer setting him in sixth spot on friday of the
Round-up, unfortunatly he was pushed out of the money... Next
time Bud... Clint was mounted by 2005 Steer Wrestling
Champion-Tommy Cook at the Round-up. I called Bruised Head and
he was telling me I missed Lyman Colliflower and his cousin- steer
wrestling at the Round-up Sorry Guys! Congratulations
CHAMPIONS and Good Luck at the Qwest Pace Picante' Rodeo! Take
Care and Be safe ya'll!

2005 Performance Results for Friday, Sept 16th![]() Texans Capture First in Bull Riding and Barrel Racing in Friday's Performance of the 95th Annual Pendleton Round-up Pendleton, Oregon--Texan Kelly Kaminski, one of the nation’s top-ranked barrel riders, captured first place today at the 95th annual Pendleton Round-Up rodeo as did fellow Texan, Clayton Foltyn, riding a bull named Broken Bone. The rodeo will wrap up its final day of competition Saturday, with the top 12 finishers over the past three days in eight events vying for the prestigious rodeo’s big-money prizes. Foltyn, currently ranked 12th in the world standings for bullriding, took his win in stride. “I knew I had a good bull in Broken Bone and I was excited about it all week. He’s a bunch of fun. I just got up on him and did my job. Tomorrow I’ll just come back and see if it all works out.” The win today gave Foltyn a share of the $28,015 purse for the bullriders. If he can win on Saturday he’s in line for a lot more. Kaminski has already earned over $2,000 and will also add much more depending on the outcome of Saturday’s contest. ![]() Will Lowe on Sankey Rodeos' "Exotic Trail" BAREBACK 1 - Will Lowe, Canyon,TX - 83 2 - Rowdy Buechner, Sandpoint, ID - 82 3 (TIE) - Eric Swenson, Bonham, TX - 78 - Wes Stevenson, Kaufman, TX - 78 CALF ROPING 1 - Trevor Knowles, Mount Vernon, OR - Time: 12.4 2 - Monty Lewis, Hereford, TX - Time: 12.5 3 - Seth Hopper, Stanfield, OR - Time: 13.8 SADDLE BRONC 1 - Cody DeMoss, Crowville, LA - 86 2 - Morgan Forbes, Kaycee,WY - 84 3 - Bryce Miller, Kaycee WY - 82 STEER WRESTLING 1 - Mark A Boultinghouse, Ridgefield, WA - Time: 5.8 2 - Tony Currin, Dayton, WA - Time: 6.2 3 - Travis Taruscio, Stanfield, OR - Time: 7.0 1 - Tee Woolman, Llano, TX / Cory Petska, Turlock, CA - Time: 5.4 2 - Blaine Linaweaver, Leavenworth, KS / BJ Campbell, Benton City, WA - Time: 8.1 3 - Jim Brown, Baker City, OR / Butch Knowles, Heppner, OR - Time: 17.3 BULL RIDING 1 - Clayton Foltyn, El Campo, TX - 82 2 - Ned Cross, Roosevelt, WA - 74 3 - Ian Male, Livermore, CA - 68 STEER ROPING 1 - Ty Tillard, Douglas, WY - Time: 13.1 2 - John Freeman, Boise, ID - Time: 15.8 3 - Scott Wilson, Colbert, WA - Time: 24.0 BARREL RACING ![]() Kelly Kaminksy & Rocky 1 - Kelly Kaminski, Bellville, TX - Time: 28.49 2 - Sheri Cervi, Marana, AZ - Time: 28.69 3 - Barbara West, Oak Harbor, WA - Time: 28.93 Overall (Average) Results 9/13-9/16 Bullriding 1. The award increased Myers’ winnings since joining the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association in 1999, now approaching $1,000,000, by over $14,000, not including his cash prizes for placing in several events over the four days of the Round-Up. ![]() Flint Rasmussen Myers, whose dad was the world steer wrestling champion in 1980, is ranked 12th in world steer roping standings, 20th in calf roping and 23rd in steer wrestling. “It’s great . . . just a great day to be here to compete against top guys at the best rodeo in thee world. I had a little trouble in the first round with the calf ropin’ but just made good solid runs and had a good chance today and was able to capitalize on it!” exclaimed the happy Myers. In the saddle bronc event, Albertan Rod Hay won the overall award for the third straight year. Hay is currently ranked 4th in the world standings in the event. In barrel racing, the only women’s contest of the eight Round-Up events, Montanan Terri Kay Kirkland missed first place at the Round-Up by one-one hundredth of a second for the second year in a row, losing out to Maegan Reichert of Texas.
