Rocky Mountain Indian Rodeo Association

P.O. Box 892, Fort Hall, ID, 83203

July 28, 2004.

Dear Members,

Well its been a very hot and long July and we will soon have our second sanctioned Rodeo at Fort Hall on August 13,14, 15. Please do not forget to enter this rodeo it is truly a good one. Our support and thanks go out to the Shoshone-Bannock Festival Rodeo Committee for their support and commitment to improving and maintaining All Indian Rodeo at Fort Hall. Also I know that the Fort Hall committee had concerns about the Electric Eye. I want to let you all know that the RMIRA purchased a new electric eye and it will be up and running at Fort Hall.

As for other Rodeos, the RMIRA has agreed to sanction the Monticello County Fair Rodeo with the Colorado Professional Rodeo Association on August 14th 2004. This will be our first such venture of this nature and it is sort of a pilot project to see if our members are willing to co-sanction an event such as this one. The Rodeo committee at Monticello is also piloting this rodeo; they to want to consider going RMIRA approved Rodeo next year with out the co-sanction with CPRA. I hope that all our southern and northern members take the time and consider entering this rodeo. The purse $600.00 is well worth the travel.

Directors will need pick-up letter to seek sponsorship for the year-end awards. Please contact Markie Burns at Phone # (208)-785-3432, so that she can send out copies of these letters. All directors must be in the arena during your event. It is part of the director’s job so that we can have the rules upheld according to the RMIRA rulebook. If you cannot be there then you need to assign your duties to another member contestant. We will be counting on you at Fort Hall. Directors your collection of donations is the other priority and please already starts to get your sponsors lined up, so we can get Year-end awar4ds paid for well in advance. List of Directors is in this newsletter.

Other Rodeo news to update members about are as followed. The Aneth, UT. Rodeo is also set to go on the 4th weekend of August. The Schures NV Rodeo committee has asked the RMIRA to Co-Sanction their event in September. I hope that we will be able to fit this into our 2004 schedule. Pat Washakie and his committee are working to get Crow Heart ready for the Labor Day Weekend.

All contestant need to know that Co-Sanctioned rodeos can only to be counted towards money won and that Co-Sanctioned Rodeos DO NOT COUNT for qualification to the Regional Finals Rodeo and INFR. Contestants must attend 50% of the sanctioned rodeos within the region of Utah, Idaho, and Wyoming. All Co-Sanctioned Rodeos help members so that they can get opportunity to further their winnings and have a shot at winning the year-end awards.

The Fort Hall Indian Rodeo Committee with the Host Region Rocky Mountain Indian Rodeo Association would like to invite all INFR regions to participate in this years Shoshone-Bannock All-Indian Rodeo.

We ask all interested Regions to submit current memberships, along with a suspension list to the RMIRA CES, Christine Cutler (208) 637-8974, by July 31, 2004. You must Call her first before faxing.

All interested Regions must abide by all rules and regulations set forth by the RMIRA and sponsoring committees.
