Native Youth
This is a brand new page added to Indian Rodeo
News. Our goal here is to recognize all Indian children and
teenagers who ride horses, rodeo, ranch, and kids who participate in
taking pictures at events.
Each month starting with December 2002 we will try
to feature a Indian Youth who is active in riding horses, rodeo,
ranching, and photography.
Do you know a
Native Indian Youth who has worked hard to achieve their goals and
accomplishments? Would you like to be featured as a Native Youth
role model? Any Native youth ages 18 and under can be
featured.
Indian Rodeo News asks for you to send in your story about yourself, who
inspired you to ride, rodeo, ranch, etc. We
welcome as many pictures you have to share with our readers. Email
your questions and or story to Gina@indianrodeonews.com

Shelby is on the A/B honor roll at Hollywood Christian School, with her favorite subject being Math.
She has been riding since the age of 3 years old and currently has 7 horses.
Shelby has competed in the Florida Junior Rodeo Association for 4 years and is currently in the 2nd year competing in Florida High School Rodeo Association, in hopes of making it to the High School Finals, she competes in the Barrels, Poles, Breakaway, Team Roping and Goat Tying. She holds a card with the Eastern Indian Rodeo Association in the Ladies Breakaway, Barrels, and Team Roping. Under her belt she’s been to the INFR four times, 3 times as Breakaway Champion, and once for Reserve Champion.
Besides rodeo she likes to play softball, and is currently on the Varsity Softball team for her school and she likes to go shopping.
Her future plans after graduation is to attend a college, somewhere out west, not sure where, but with a good veterinarian program where she can learn to become a large animal veterinarian and open up her own clinic.
While she’s in college she would like to compete on the college level and rodeo professionally so that one day she may compete at the NFR. She will also compete with and Indian Rodeo Association so her tradition of rodeo doesn’t die.
Shelby is the 2005-2006 Seminole Rodeo Queen for the Eastern Indian Rodeo Association.
Everyone be looking for Shelby on the rodeo trail this summer, we wish you the best of luck.
I would like to thank Shelby and her mom for there time in getting me the information for her bio, Thank You!
