 Tom Reeves

2004 articles on Tom Reeves

Tom Reeves interview with Indian Rodeo News.com
November 12, 2002

What was your most memorable ride ever?

Tom: "Last year at the NFR when I rode War Zone from the Mike Cervi stock"

What Indian Cowboy influenced you to rodeo?

Tom: "My Dad, Dean Reeves, and Howard Hunter"

Not only did you win the Gold Buckle at the NFR last year, you qualified for the US Rodeo team and won a silver medal at the Winter Olympics this year, during the opening ceremonies of this year's Olympics, what were your thoughts?

Tom:" Who you are, representing America, and being amongst the best Bronc riders in the world"

What advice would you give to a kid who wanted to learn how to ride a horse, and or rodeo, but the kid doesn't come from a ranching or rodeo family?

Tom: "Contact someone who has horses.  Search for a place to go to a rodeo school.  Make your goals, don't let anything get in your way and follow your dreams"

Is there any songs that inspire you before you ride?

Tom: " No, I like to pray before I ride at every rodeo"

What would you like to see in the future of Indian
rodeo?

Tom: "To see the associations reach a higher level, and to see more Indians at a higher level in the PRCA, Ramos Benny won Albuquerque and he rode at Cow Palace this year, Marty Hebb has rode in some of the big rodeos too, both ride as good as the rest of us"

TC Holloway was on his way up in the PRCA, tragically, we lost him when he was fatally injured in a car accident last year

Can you explain more about your Wild Card Rodeo?

Tom: "It is a 3 event rough stock tour, incorporated with casinos.  Started it in April, we had two events so far, Prairie Knights Casino held at Ft. Yates North Dakota and the Four Bears casino held in Newtown North Dakota"

Once Tom has more information on his web site about the Wild Card rodeo's we will update our readers about future Wild Card Rodeo events in 2003

You are active with your Quarter horses, what are you doing with them lately?

Tom: " I had a fall horse sale this year, I break the geldings, mostly broke for ranch work, and then I market them"

Tom's Dad and Grandad Arthur Reeves are known for their Quarter horse program that was founded in 1941.  Tom's horses breeding are  from Roan Bar, Old Stubb Chubby, and Bar Tender

Our reporter Lizzie Dixey provided a article from the Billings Gazette, you can locate this article under recent news articles

We want to thank Tom for taking the time to talk to us.  Indian Rodeo News wishes Good Luck to Tom next month at the NFR, and congratulations to Tom and his wife Carmen on expecting a baby boy very soon.
