Nate Begay

Hey guys, there is just a little bity last minute change I need to update you all on.
The concert scheduled for tomorrow night (Saturday, June 7th, 2003) will be held in the "James C. Henderson Fine Arts Theatre, at the San Juan College Campus in Farmington N.M. We just needed a little more room. =0)
The "Scheduled Appearances" page on Nate's website has also been updated to show the new location. This concert is sure to be a ton of fun, we're trying to raise money for these children, so I hope to see you all there!!
This has been a pretty tough week for Nate. He somehow managed to hurt his back while trying to play cowboy, not to worry, Nate will be fine. We've got him in a back-brace, he's just a little stiff & sore. He said it would take a whole lot more than a little pain to keep him from performing. What a guy!!
Thanks guys!!

Nate's
Bio
Born: January 1st, 1977
Birthplace: Shiprock, New Mexico
Hometown: Aztec, New Mexico
For Nate Begay, music isn't just a fad, or something that's cool. From the very beginning, Nate had a deep love for music of all walks of life. At the age of 6, one instrument changed the course of his life forever, the guitar. By the age of 7, with the help of his uncle Harry, Nate not only learned to play the guitar, he began to explore his musical curiosities by learning how to play the piano too. In the years to come Nate was exposed to a very wide variety of music styles & tastes. "One of my very first memories was listening to the records that my parents use to play" Nate Explains. “I knew how to sing “Your Cheatin’ Heart” (a song composed by the legendary Hank Williams), way before I even had an interest in girls.” It was clear to Nate’s parents, Hanley & Emily
Begay, that they had a son that cared more for his guitar than his toy-box.
Even through his teen years, Nate’s hunger to be like his musical hero’s only grew stronger. “Watching guys like George Strait sing on
T.V. was like adding fuel to the fire, I just couldn’t get enough, one of my biggest dreams was to stand next to him (Strait) on stage. I believed then, like I do now, that if I work hard enough, hope long enough, that, that dream will come true.”
Now in his mid-twenties, Nate continues to show just how determined he is. At the age of 21, Nate fulfilled another life long dream by graduating from college, with a degree in Drafting & Design. “Not long after graduation, I made the decision to start my very own company, one of the things I’m most proud of in my life. I would like to encourage everyone out there to persue their educational careers” While working as a draftsman, Nate never forgot his first love, music. Along the way it seemed that Nate was just in the right place at the right time. “around this time my friends & myself would catch every concert that came to town, I went hoping to learn a little more about music, by sneaking back stage to meet the singers I had idolized for years.” Some of these singers include Daryle Singletary, Mark
Chesnutt, Tracy Byrd, & Clay Walker. “It was the greatest, I had finally met my hero’s, & they were kind enough to give a little helpful advise to this rookie trying to break into the music business.” Nate explains.
By the age of 24, Nate steps into the spotlight, just as his hero’s did in their beginnings. January 2001, Nate stepped into the studio & recorded a few demonstration songs, that later caught the attention of a Gallup, New Mexico Radio Station
KGAK. Station manager, Don Gonzales compares Nate’s voice to that of George Strait, Tracy Byrd, & Mark
Chesnutt. “Soon Nate will be a national star, just like George Strait.” Explains Gonzales, “Nate is our most requested artist here at
KGAK.”
Now at 25 years old, Nate continues to sing & play. Headlining concerts throughout the four corners, even reaching as far as California. “It’s already a dream come true for me, I get fan mail every day from people asking when I’ll be back to sing, It’s a great honor for me.” His story continues, Nate continues to work toward the dream he’s had since childhood. “Right now we have over 700 members in my fan club, & it seems to grow larger every week, from the bottom of my heart, I thank all of you for this great opportunity, I promise to do the very best I can to make everyone proud.”
